About Upasana
Upasana is a boutique cultural and wellness space located in Ideal Homes Township, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru. Dedicated to bringing arts, movement, and community wellbeing together, the space offers an intimate, mindful setting designed for experiential learning and somatic exploration.
Shri Upasana
Shri Upasana is a first-of-its-kind 3-day festival bringing together four experiential workshops that unlock the healing and therapeutic essence of Indian Classical Dance. Designed as an intentional prelude to Navaratri, the festival centers around the nourishing, holding warmth of "Feminine Energy" offering a safe space that feels like a reassuring embrace for your nervous system.
You do not need to be a dancer to be here. Most of these workshops require "zero dance experience" and are gentle, non-intensive movement sessions designed for anyone seeking inner balance, emotional release, and creative nourishment.

Vision
Wellness belongs to everyone. It should never be locked away in elite clinical rooms or behind complex jargon. Just like we build physical strength, fitness, and immunity to keep our bodies healthy, we can actively build emotional resilience to protect our mental health before a crisis hits. Shri Upasana was born from a simple belief: healing and self-discovery can happen organically when we open diverse, accessible pathways to the inner self.

Why Dance, and Classical Dance in Particular?
Movement is our first language. Long before we take our first breath, we move in the womb. Throughout our lives, our bodies communicate what spoken words fail to express, something we all experience intuitively when trying to connect across language barriers.

Modern science and psychology clearly validate the mind-body connection. When emotional overwhelm or stress leaves the conscious mind unable to process an experience, the body still holds the story—and possesses the wisdom to release it. In this way, conscious movement becomes a form of medicine.
Indian Classical Dance carries over a millennium of somatic intelligence. Ancient treatises like the Natyashastra and Abhinaya Darpana are not merely performance manuals; they are deep psychological maps exploring emotional states (Bhavas), human expression, and body awareness.

You do not need decades of rigorous, codified training to experience the emotional release and grounding these art forms offer. Our vision is to demystify these traditions, bringing their therapeutic depth to everyday people as a direct tool for emotional regulation and joyful healing.
